A 'Glee'-ful Christmas Episode

A 'Glee'-ful Christmas Episode

This time last year, Fox's Glee was probably too new to seize the festive moment and release a holiday album. (They did record a re-energized version of Wham's "Last Christmas," but that was just a single.)

By now, of course, the Glee marketing machine is up and running. Both a critical darling and a bonafide hit, the show has already released companion albums to the Madonna and Rocky Horror episodes, among other general compilations. So naturally, there's a holiday album to go with Tuesday night's Christmas episode (8 p.m. ET), too. "Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album," which was released on November 16, features the episode's yuletide tunes and more—12 songs in all.

As for the episode, it focuses in part on Brittany (Heather Morris), who still believes in Santa Claus. (Of course she does. She also believes in cleaning her teeth by rinsing with Dr. Pepper.) And based on this week's sneak peek musical numbers, Glee will spin through the holidays with its usual, cheeky tone. In one clip, the staunchly Jewish Rachel (Lea Michele) belts out a Christmas song ("Merry Christmas, Darling, by The Carpenters). And this one features a “Baby It’s Cold Outside” duet between two guys—Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss)—in a Dalton Academy study. It's subversive fun that happens to be a lovely rendition of the song, too.
