There is an outrage brewing on the air waves in NYC and it ain't two rappers beefing. Last week DJ Cipha Sounds on-air comment "The reason I'm H-I-V negative is because I don't mess with Haitian girls" has people P.O.ed. Get the deets inside...
A group of activists, protestors and local leaders in New York city are asking that a local radio DJ be fired after outrageous comments made on the air last week at HOT 97.
Last week DJ Cipha Sounds said on-air "The reason I'm H-I-V negative is because I don't mess with Haitian girls" and this has angered Haitians Americans and others across the city.
Although he immediately issued an on-air apology and posted the apology on YouTube, local activists say it's not enough.
Activists point to previous broadcasts by Hot 97, such as a song making fun of tsunami victims back in 2005, as other examples of the station not being responsible.
"We are here together to ensure that Mr. Diaz be removed from this station," said New York City Councilman Matthieu Eugene.
"If we feel that they are not addressing it, I suggest we take our business and air to another station," New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams said.
The coalition leaders say they will keep the pressure on, until DJ Cipha is properly disciplined. So we will be hearing a lot more of this because Hot 97 management has, so far, not responded to requests for comment. SMH.
