Dear Davis,

The Showdown competition is an important experiment in Social Curation. We built Showdown to accentuate and accelerate peer vs. peer competitions, selected by artists, collectors and the public. It purposefully resembles a final in a sporting event where rounds lead to brackets and winners advance to final matches. We have received quite a lot of criticism recently about the Showdown Competitions. Showdown has been described as a “Popularity Contest, Scam, Farce, Joke, Fake, Weak and Bullsh*t.” Today, we are announcing some very serious changes to the Showdown Competition that address these concerns.

Here is a list of the changes to Showdown:

* Community Voting -- Select Top 300 Artworks
* Jury Selects 30 Artworks
* Community Voting -- Selects Final Artwork from Jury
* NO more URLs will be displayed, artists cannot link to their matchup
* NO Promotion of matchups (no more spam)

We are convinced that Social Curation remains an integral element of the Saatchi Online website and feel that these changes will address all of the concerns and criticism of the competition. We are happy to announce a new Saatchi Online Showdown today. The winners will be displayed in the Saatchi Gallery in London, UK.
