I think that is more proof of the fact that it was never a bug. Apple was doing it that way on purpose and the only reason they are claiming it was a "bug" is because they got caught big time.
The lie is the fact that it is a bug. It was done on propose and right now Apple is just doing CYA.
Given that the database is a local cache of some information that already exists on Apple's servers, what do Apple have to gain by designing it this way on purpose? Nothing.
The data in the file is not generated by the phone, it is retrieved from Apple and stored.

in Applications find 'Terminal' and once it is open put this command in there
$ defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock
swap the 'YES' for 'NO' to undo it.

I'd rather pay and get upgrades than have the developer abandon the app because it isn't profitable to do anymore free updates. What should Loren do when everyone that will buy Tweetie already has it? Develop updates out of the goodness of his heart?
The app store has a problem, and that's the amount of crap and cheapness of that crap. It drives the price of everything down. Factor in that ALL upgrades are free and you have a major problem for devs. You can sell an app once to each user, at next to nothing cost, and that's all you get. Yes, initially it's good when you're selling 100K apps a week but what happens when everyone's bought your app? The app store has a sustainability problem, and it will soon rear it's ugly head.
Compare it to desktop software where even the most basic apps cost $10+ and all upgrades are paid.
I'm quite happy to pay Loren ?1.79 every 8-12 months for his work on Tweetie because frankly it's amazing and ?1.79 is pretty much nothing.
The problem with most whambulance drivers such as yourself is pretty much the same problem with society at large. You only care about yourself and what you can get for yourself regardless if it's at the expense of others. You have no social responsibility. People's inability to look past their own nose and care about others is really quite pathetic. You don't care if Loren gets paid for his work, or for a sustainable app store. I got an email from Apple tonight telling this was the last reminder they were going to give me to update my calendar on the MobileMe systems to the new version otherwise I'd lose the ability to sync it and wouldn't be able to view it online, either. Which sounds like they're going to delete it for all intents and purposes. :rolleyes:
I bet the only reason it's required I click something to perform this update is because it entails agreeing to a new EULA with some nefarious new terms or requires I start using the newest version of iCal to sync with the online calendar (which, coincidentally, isn't available for the version of OSX I have, which coincidentally requires me to buy a new Mac to run). :rolleyes:

Oh my god, if an iChat Mobile phone happens, and my boyfriend gets a hold of one, I'm doomed. I can't get him away from the computer now as it is, but if he has a way to IM his friends while we're on the street.... ack!!! This could be seriously dangerous to chat junkies.
As for design, I'm REALLY hoping for a flip phone -- but something tells me Apple is going to go with a candy bar design. The only reason I hate those is because no matter HOW complicated it is to lock/unlock the keys, it manages to ALWAYS happen in my pocket. And then I unknowingly place calls to people without realizing it, which is my worst nightmare.
By the way, I think "iChat Mobile" sounds a bit silly for some reason. It almost sounds like it's not a real phone, but a "play" one. Does anyone else get that impression?

I love all the 'worst carrier ever' comments. Do none of you realize VZW is already charging that much?
I don't know about VZW, but with AT&T, 80% of my calls are dropped multiple times. I had to get a TMobile + Nokia to use for business. I'm having iPhone for use with WiFi network.
